New Facebook Homepage Coming Soon

4 Mar

In an effort to “continue making the flow of information even faster and more customized to those you want to connect and communicate with, no matter how broadly or privately”, Facebook is rolling out a few changes, including new profiles for public figures and organizations (previously Pages) and a new home page.

Here’s a look at the upcoming Facebook homepage that will be rolled out next week:

The focus seems to be on getting the information in real time, the ability to easily filter the information displayed, and making it easier to post links, photos and videos.

Techcrunch has a few more screenshots, and if you want to know more about the change you should read Mark Zuckerberg’s blog post (FYI, he’s the CEO and one of the founders).

Make Your Own Pop Art With Warholizer

3 Mar

If you enjoyed turning your portrait into a “Obama Hope Poster”, you might also like the result of turning into Pop Art, Andy Warhol style.

The Warholizer does just that. You can use photos you already have on your Flickr account, enter a image URL or just upload one from your computer and you’ll end up with something like this:

This would be a nice CD cover, don’t you think?

“Normal People” Will Use Twitter In Five Years

3 Mar

Twitter co-founder Evan Williams predicts that Twitter will be something “that normal people do” within five years. He compares it to the early days of blogging (he was the founder of what became Blogger). When blogging started, most people didn’t get it and it seemed like a huge waste of time that only appealed to narcissists. Twitter gets a lot of the same criticisms, yet somehow more and more people find it a valuable mode of communication.

I still don’t get Twitter, but I’ve been around there for a few months now, to try and figure out what’s so great about it. Stuff like this Penny Arcade strip kind of scares me.

And it’s also quite curious that on the same day this news comes out, I’m seeing a few of my friends starting to follow me on Twitter. I guess that no one wants to be just like “normal people”…

Scalded Finger [Image Of The Day]

2 Mar

This is what happens when you mix boiling water, sleepiness, kitchen utensils, and someone who’s not very proficient in the cooking arts…

FYI, this post was composed entirely by my right hand :)

Will try to be more careful in the future.

Pay Station Sign [Image Of The Day]

So maybe you shouldn’t just blindly follow the instructions in signs, right? (FYI, the blue booths are pay stations…)
