Check out this amazing HD video of the Apollo 11 launch, July 16, 1969. The camera is running at 500 fps, making the total clip of over 8 minutes represent just 30 seconds of actual time. Narration provides some insight on what’s involved in the launch.

Now this is cool. Some Linux developers have managed to get Google’s Android OS running on an iPhone and released a video to prove it. The video shows an iPhone capable of dual-booting between the iPhone OS and Android OS at a power cycle. It then goes on to show web browsing, music playback, SMS messaging and phone calls.

The Linux On The iPhone blog provides more info on the port, as well as code, with minimal documentation, for the more intrepid hobbyist who wants to try it at home.

Damn you The Inquisitr, for letting me know about this deal! Now I’ll have to go and buy the damn thing, and waste many hours of my life playing it…

There really is no other way. At little more than €10, it’s too cheap not to buy, really. The GTA series has always been one of my favourites, and the review of this fourth episode is quite good. Yes, it’s old. But I’ve given up on playing brand new PC games a long time ago, since it’s ridiculously expensive to keep up with the ever increasing hardware requirements. At least this way I get to buy the games at a small fraction of their original price.

The only problem seems to be the fact that the game is tied to the Games for Windows Live platform, which is hated by many. Which, among other issues, won’t allow me to load or save the game if the Internet connection is down. Even if I’m trying to play in singleplayer mode…

If you’ve been reading this blog for a while, you might have noticed how I like music covers. That’s why The King’s Head is probably my favourite pub in Galway on Mondays and Tuesdays. From 10pm to around midnight there’s usually a gig featuring two guys with acoustic guitars, playing covers of well-know songs.

Fred & James are one of the duos, playing Mondays, and their version of Galway Girl is the one I mentioned before, with the slightly altered lyrics. This time I managed to get a much better recording of it:

They also play this great version of Hotel California, ending with an awesome solo. Which I’ve been meaning to record for a long time now, and it’s finally here:
