The Seinfeld Cast to Show Up on Curb Your Enthusiasm

6 Mar

Seinfeld CastJerry Seinfeld, Jason Alexander, Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Michael Richards, the 4 main characters of Seinfeld, are set to appear in a multi-episode story arc of Curb Your Enthusiasm, which was created by and stars Larry David – one of the brains behind Seinfeld. For most of them it’s not the first time they participate in an episode of the show (all of them except Michael Richards appeared in previous episodes), but it will be the first time all four Seinfeld stars have appeared together in a scripted TV show in 11 years, since Seinfeld went off the air.

Although we won’t get to see them as Seinfeld, George, Elaine and Kramer, this should be quite fun anyway. I now have an excuse to watch all the episodes of Curb Your Enthusiasm before the new season starts in September.

Flight of the Conchords – Foux De Fa Fa

20 Feb

I want to dedicate this song to all my French-speaking friends that had the extraordinary experience of listening to me making a bit of fun about their language :P

And in case you’re wondering where this comes from, it’s part of the Flight of the Conchords TV show. Flight of the Conchords is a two-man (Bret and Jemaine) band from New Zealand that developed a cult following with their “guitar-based digi-bongo a capella-rap-funk-comedy folk”. The TV show features them trying to achieve success as a band in New York City, and not quite making it… Highly recommended.

The Simpsons Now in High Definition and With a New Opening Sequence

16 Feb

The Simpsons entered the HD era with yesterday’s episode – “Take My Life, Please” - and to make the event more memorable, the show now has a new title sequence. Yes, that’s right, the opening sequence we all got used to and that had been on the show since it first aired almost 20 years ago got revamped. But don’t worry, the gist of it is still the same. Bart is still writing on the chalkboard, Maggie still has her own steering wheel, and the final part where something weird happens when the family gets to the sofa is still there. It’s basically the same but with some added twists, namely a lot of characters that didn’t show up in the original.

You can see the new opening sequence below:

Super Bowl 43 – The Commercials

3 Feb

The Super Bowl is probably as famous for commercials as it is for football, and so there’s always a lot of hype and expectation about them. This year I managed to watch most of the match through a live stream on USTREAM.TV, and what ended up happening was that for the most part I wasn’t really watching it, but I never missed the ads.

Here are some of the ones I liked the most:

Pedigree

Budweiser

Doritos

Pepsi light

Heroes vs NFL Legends

Monster.com

CareerBuilder.com

There are a few places where you can see all of them, for those of you who have some of the video websites blocked at work (like I do). Lifehacker lists eight such places.

Lost Season 5 Has Started, And It Keeps Getting Weirder

27 Jan

I’ve just seen the first episode of the fifth season of Lost that aired last wednesday. And although I’m a bit disappointed, that didn’t really surprise me.

It’s just that it keeps getting weirder and weirder. What’s up with making the plot more complicated in each and every episode? What about finishing up on some stuff before moving along? I miss “The X-Files” (the first few seasons), where most episodes had all kinds of bizarre stuff happening but in the end everything was wrapped up and explained. The explanations were always quite… “supernatural”, but at least they didn’t leave us wondering what the hell just happened and salivating for next week’s episode in the hopes of getting some answers. And people kept coming back to watch it next week anyway.

Getting back to the season premiere, we do get some answers on this episode (or maybe just one), but those answers come at a cost… You guessed it, more questions! I don’t want to reveal any spoilers… but I don’t like the direction where this is heading, with so many time-travel-related stuff. It never works out! It always makes everything too confusing and most of the times completely incongruous. I only remember it working out well a few times, like in “Back to the Future” and “The Butterfly Effect”. I don’t even want to get started on how wrong it’s working on “Heroes”…

Anyway, I was a bit afraid of what might show up in this fifth season and episode 1 just made me confirm that I only keep watching this show because I’m too stubborn to stop after I’ve watched the previous 4 seasons. I mean, there has to be some kind of unifying story behind all of it. Although I’m really starting to doubt it will make any sense at all.

Oh well, at least I still have stuff like “How I Met Your Mother”, “The Big Bang Theory” and “Californication” that continue to be a lot of fun to watch.
