Whiteflash.be – Today’s Facebook Phishing Scam

24 May

Facebook phishing scam

UPDATE: Check this list of scam sites that I compiled and will be updating when some more sites show up.

I wasn’t affected by last weeks areps.at Facebook phishing scam, but it seems like another one is underway right now. I’ve been getting some messages on my Facebook account with the subject “Look at this” and ”wwww whiteflash be” as the message body. The site whiteflash.be looks like a Facebook log-in page, and is designed to steal your credentials and use them to send similar messages to all your friends.

Mashable mentions some other sites that are also part of the attack:

goldbase.be
greenbuddy.be
silvertag.be
picoband.be

So, if you receive such a message, DO NOT go to those sites.

UPDATE: You can add simplemart.be to the list of culprits, just received one message poiting me to it, with the subject line “Hello” and the text “Check simplemart D0T be, , 575222″. The weird thing here is that when I went I actually went to Facebook to check it (I saw it as an email notification) is it said I had deleted the message, which I didn’t. Maybe the Facebook staff is now onto it.

Facebook Manners, Sneezing in Ultra Slow Motion and Lightsaber Underwear Fight

21 Apr

Of all the funny clips I get bombarded with daily, there are a few that really get my attention, for one reason or another. Here are 3 such clips.

The first one is about Facebook etiquette, more specifically the “Facebook Relationship Etiquette”. What makes it even funnier is the old-movie look.

The premise on the next one is quite simple: people sneezing. But have you ever seen anyone sneeze in super slow motion? The result is hilarious.

The last one is probably every nerd’s deepest dream, even if they don’t know it. Imagine you’re at a bar, with two gorgeous women vying for your attention. Before you know it, they’re fighting over you – then the light sabers come out…and the clothes come off.

Facebook Enables Hiding Applications From News Feed. And The World Rejoices!

27 Mar

Finally!facebook-hide-quiz

It sure took some time, but Facebook finally provides a way to hide applications from the News Feed. That means no more “Your ideal job”, “What color are you?”, “The True Age Test” or ”Who is your celebrity twin?”. No more ”Who would be your celebrity boyfriend?”, “What Kind of Woman Are You?” or “What Disney Princess Are You?”. My homepage will look much cleaner from now on.

All you need to do is click the “Hide” button on the top right corner of each “news story” to hide said application. You can also choose to hide all the stories from that person.

To get the hidden applications (and people) back to the news feed, just click the “Edit Options” on the bottom right of the News Feed.

New Facebook Homepage Coming Soon

4 Mar

In an effort to “continue making the flow of information even faster and more customized to those you want to connect and communicate with, no matter how broadly or privately”, Facebook is rolling out a few changes, including new profiles for public figures and organizations (previously Pages) and a new home page.

Here’s a look at the upcoming Facebook homepage that will be rolled out next week:

The focus seems to be on getting the information in real time, the ability to easily filter the information displayed, and making it easier to post links, photos and videos.

Techcrunch has a few more screenshots, and if you want to know more about the change you should read Mark Zuckerberg’s blog post (FYI, he’s the CEO and one of the founders).
